Why we're starting a blog focused on the unglamorous reality of running a high-value orchard — and what you can expect from it.

Most agtech writing falls into one of two buckets: dense academic papers that never reach the field, or vendor blog posts that quietly skip the part where the technology actually has to work in dust, wind, and patchy LTE coverage.

We're starting this blog to bridge that gap. Specifically:

What you can expect

  • Field-level write-ups. Real orchards, real numbers, real failure modes.
  • Honest performance reporting. When a detection model hits 90% recall, we'll say so. When it hits 55%, we'll say that too.
  • Implementation guides for cost-per-acre tracking, SGMA reporting, and irrigation scheduling that respects how growers actually work.

What you won't find

  • Generic "5 reasons IoT will transform agriculture" listicles.
  • Case studies that conveniently leave out the failure modes.
  • Marketing copy disguised as technical content.

A note on units

We use both acre-feet and gallons for water, GPM for flow rates, and kPa for soil moisture tension. Where a metric system reader would be more comfortable, we include the conversion inline.
